Programme

The Sport NZ Women in Leadership Programme is designed for women currently in a team leadership role (or above), who want to lead our sector into the future. It looks at developing the building blocks of transformational leadership, including amplifying your talents to drive innovation, change and personal growth. It is designed to create a leadership community of women who want to lead with lasting impact.

The W.I.L.P will enable you:

Gain clarity and awareness of your career strengths and leadership insights, in order to set professional purpose and direction

Master a range of leadership competencies as outlined by the Sport and Recreation Leadership Framework, including building your visibility, impact and influence

Quieten your inner critic while increasing your resilience and self confidence

Gain the space to connect and learn from your peers, exploring some of the unique challenges faced by women within the sector while building a high trust network

The Programme

The Sport NZ Women in Leadership Programme is an eight day residential programme run over a six month period.  Central to the design are your insights, ideas, challenges, and opportunities integrated with cutting edge thinking about leadership development-including what we know about neuro science, behavioural psychology, and the psychology of learning.  To support your personal growth, tools include a 360 diagnostic, 1-1 executive coaching, personal feedback, real case studies, guest presentations, experiential learning and peer learning.

Our InvestmentAs part of our commitment to growing and developing leadership across the sector Sport New Zealand will meet all the costs of investing in these opportunities including accommodation and the cost of attending the programme. We will reimburse your flights and transport to the value of $400.

Your InvestmentBefore you accept a place on our programme you need to be able to commit to investing a significant amount of effort into your own personal development. This includes creating time for preparation, a willingness to apply your learning back in to your workplace and community and reflecting on your personal growth.

How do I get on the programme?Participation on the Women in Leadership programme can be via nomination from your Chief Executive, Line Manger or you may nominate yourself. You must have Chief Executive approval to attend our programmes.Nominations open 1 April and close 30 April. Please complete the nomination form below and send it to leadership@sportnz.org.nz  Final selection will be made by a panel. Consideration may include but is not limited to:
  • Ability to impact on your organisation and community
  • Commitment to personal and professional development
  • Personal, academic, professional and community achievements
  • Demonstration of collaboration within or beyond your field, and a wider circle of influence than your direct role
